Plot

Engagé dans la Légion,Randolph Carter est blessé, seul survivant d'une attaque à Belloy-en-Santerre. Soigné à Marseille, il se lie d'amitié avec un autre légionnaire. Il est témoin du suicide d'un marin américain rescapé du pacifique sud, rendu fou à la suite d'un naufrage. En 1917 ils sont volontaires pour partir au Levant et participent à la campagne de Cilicie.
