In this terrifying crime mystery, Grace Penny, a woman who has recently recovered suppressed memories of childhood torture at the hands of a satanic cultist begins receiving eerie photographs of green candles slowly burning down. Realizing that the images portray an implied threat that when the candle is no more, her life will be forfeit, the adult schoolteacher employs John Halting, a private detective, to find her tormentor. But as Halting becomes caught in a deadly nightmare of lies and rationalizations, he learns that there can be a lethal difference between what people choose to remember and what really happened.
