Plot
In the mid-1930s, Irmina, an ambitious young German, travels to London. There she meets Howard Green, one of the first black students at Oxford. Like Irmina, Green is looking for an independent existence - and a love affair blossoms between two outsiders. But the relationship comes to an abrupt end when Irmina, constrained by the political situation in Hitler's Germany, has to return to Berlin. Political events accelerate, and her letters to Howard are returned unopened. It will be 30 years until she receives another.
Based on a true story, this moving and perceptive graphic novel conjures the oppressive atmosphere of wartime Germany and reflects on the passive complicity of its people with sympathy and intelligence.

Me ha gustado bastante. Irmina es la historia de una joven llena de ilusiones que, frente a la dureza y frialdad del mundo de principios del siglo XX, acaba encontrando cobijo en el ideal nazi. Una idea que lo único que le pide es que renuncie a su empatía, sus ilusiones, sus ideales y, en definitiva, a todo lo que hace que ella sea ella y no sea simplemente "una mujer". Una fantasía que es mortuoría, a diferencia de la que motiva a Irmina al principio de la obra. No es casualidad que, conforme se suceden las páginas, los saltos temporales se vuelven mas constantes mientras que al principio hay bastante pocos. El dibujo también es bastante bueno, en especial en las escenas de fiesta. El estilo visual de Yelin es único y destacable, también a nivel de color. Por destacar algo malo del tebeo, la primera y la tercera parte, sobre todo esta última, son bastante aburridas en comparación con el segundo tramo.
