La historia de Fear State no destaca por su originalidad, hemos visto tramas parecidas en otros eventos de Gotham, pero resulta entretenida y se sostiene bien gracias a su ritmo y a un dibujo de gran nivel en la serie principal. Sorprende, eso sí, el papel algo secundario de Scarecrow, sobre todo tratándose del villano central según el título del evento. En cambio, el verdadero motor de la historia parece ser Simon Saint, una especie de trasunto de Steve Jobs versión ciberpunk, obsesionado con “mejorar” Gotham mediante el control tecnológico. La serie ofrece además algunas reflexiones interesantes, especialmente en las conversaciones entre Batman y Miracle Molly, y en el epílogo Fear State: Omega, donde se aborda con más calma el sentido de todo lo ocurrido. Aunque los personajes secundarios no me atraen tanto, los números de Secret Files dedicados a Peacekeeper, Miracle Molly y The Gardener, incluidos en esta edición, son sorprendentemente interesantes y aportan aire a la trama.
