Plot
This experiment in printing is the fifth of the Raw MailBooks (MB 105) and among the very first items Francoise Mouly published under the RAW Books imprint before the advent of RAW magazine. According to Jeet Heer (In Love with Art), "One of Mouly's specialties was what she called the 'mailbook,' an eight-page chapbook that could be mailed as a gift." These mailbooks were inspired by the revival of artists' books in the '60s and '70s but were meant to be more democratic in their content and were made to be sold in multiple copies. From RAW publications catalog: “Full-color whimsical scrawls. A must-have item for all canine-o-philes. Spiegelman doggedly delineates the most dog-eared puns he can think of.” Rare example of Mouly's early pre-RAW printing work; only 2 copies listed in WorldCat.
