I started this graphic novel with maybe too high expectations. As a life-long TMNT anime fan I set myself the task to bring my fandom to another level and read this novel by the great Kevin Eastman that everyone was talking about. The story is trying to tell so many things in such a little space of time it never really connects with me. I guess I am a fan of slow brewed potions. This is a thing mangakas do immensely better than their western cousins. They commit to their story and the way they want to tell it no matter how many years in the making it takes. When you are going to kill a character so loved by the community you can't kill it in four pages. The idea seems absurd to me. The fighting looked just uninspired and its non-relevant dialogues always made me feel exhausted. Adding that to the already massive amount of disappointment by how the story got told in the first place and we have a winning combination for a massive let down.
