You are holding a comic book with cartoon fetuses on the cover, and something in your subconscious compelled you to pick it up. You will soon be an avid reader of Arsenic Lullaby . That's just how it works. You either cringe at the sight of it or pick it up and take it home. The decision is made somewhere deep in the subconscious. The same place where you decide just how soon to wake up from a nightmare. There is no gray area, nothing to ponder, just a knee jerk gut reaction...do I find a fetus trying to hold up a Zippo lighter to be a possible form of entertainment? You answered that question as soon as you picked up this book. The good news is that there 120 some odd pages of that kind of entertainment right between these covers! Zombie fetuses, abusive parents, baby killing census agents, skinless men, all regularly grace the pages of Arsenic Lullaby and you can take hope this collection of it's best stories. My advice is that you hide it in between a stack of other less despicable books and hope that the clerk doesn't notice it.
