Plot

Following The Art of Ramona Fradon, The Dynamite Art of Alex Ross, The Art of Howard Chaykin, Art of Atari, Undisputed Street Fighter, The Art of Vampirella, The Art of Jose Gonzalez, Masters of Spanish Comic Book Art and more, Dynamite Entertainment is publishing a new volume celebrating the art of the late Luis García.

Luis García was among the cream of the crop within the “Spanish Invasion” which transformed Warren Publishing’s comic magazines in the 1970s. Contracting artists from the Barcelona-based art agency Selecciones Illustrada such as García, Jose Gonzalez, Esteban Maroto, José Ortiz, Auraleon brought new dimension to the painted covers and intricate interiors of Vampirella, Creepy and Eerie.

This new volume written and curated by artist and historian David Roach follows each stage of García’s career in a first-of-its-kind comprehensive retrospective. From his early seductive romance strips, to contributions to legendary French publication Pilote, to his pioneering autobiographical and political work in the graphic novel format, and his horror stories for Warren and painting work.

The volume also contains commentary and notes from Luis García himself, recounting such wide-ranging memories as modeling for romantic fotonovelas, meeting Salvador Dali and John Lennon, hanging out at Studio 54 and more.
