Man. You gotta love comics. If you stopped that plastic faced bottle blonde on the street in the Alo outfit and told her that you just read an issue of Batman that talks of society choosing Plato’s teaches over Socrates, one I don’t think she’d believe you, if she knew who they were, but also, I mean she’d probably not know they were still making Batman comics. Anyway, this one really snuck up on me. The art especially, it has a sort of Indy-not-quite-ready-for-the-big-two style art, like something you’d see in an early comico issue, but it’s also dark and twisted and beautiful. Very much like the story itself. Really interesting take on the bat Mythos, possibly in my top three of these elseworld annuals.
