Mantiene el alto nivel hasta la mitad del tomo, donde Wolfman deja una auténtica epopeya cósmica que enlaza con lo acontecido en la serie de Nova y resolviendo aquí la trama de La Esfinge, magistralmente dibujado por Pollard y Byrne, y George Pérez en dos de los anuales. Es cuando Doug Moench se hace con los guiones donde la serie se resiente y se vuelve algo más metafísica y pesada, pero son números dibujados por Sienkiewicz que está maravilloso entintado por Sinnott y la hace más llevadera.
