Plot
Dr Canus and Tuftan strike a bargain with the villainous Mr. Sacker: the famed Watergate Tapes in exchange for Kamandi's freedom. As Kamandi remains a prisoner, the dog scientist and the tiger prince journey into the treacherous ruins of Washington, D.C., to retrieve the politically explosive evidence. Along the way, Kamandi passes the time by singing lyrics from the "Yellow Submarine" song, unaware that the beetles he mentions are not the musical group. Can the tapes be found before Mr. Sacker reneges on his deal ?
This issue features a direct reference to the real-life Watergate scandal that led to President Nixon's resignation.
Kamandi's reference to "beetles" (instead of The Beatles) is a deliberate joke by writer Jack Kirby.
