Vaughan nos regala otra obra que no solo parte de una idea interesante, sino que encuentra su mayor encanto en la manera de explotarla. El autor aprovecha muy bien el punto de partida, y aborda a través de un escenario distópico las diferencias de género que siguen existiendo y, en ese sentido, toca todos los palos: política, arte, el mundo del espectáculo, religión... La ausencia de hombres en todos los ámbitos evidencia los problemas y agujeros de nuestra sociedad actual. Sin embargo, tampoco estamos ante un panfleto propagandístico, ya que Vaughan no pierde nunca de vista cómo contar una historia que nos mantiene enganchados desde el principio.El carisma de los personajes es otro de los puntos fuertes, y Vaughan enfatiza más todo lo mencionado dejando el título de "último hombre" a uno que no cumple los estereotipos.
