Plot

Krai’s excellent performance during the journey to Toweyezant has brought him his deepest desire—more work that he can’t turn down. His new task is to mentor the imperial princess, Murina Atolm Zebrudia. According to experts on matters of fate and fortune, the young princess is certifiably unlucky, and the emperor believes the Thousand Tricks might be able to help her learn to manage this condition.

Krai gets paid in advance in the form of a VIP ticket to the upcoming Supreme Warrior Festival, the most prestigious combat tournament in the world. With this coveted ticket, he’s able to bring any number of companions to spectate the fights with him.

Krai puts two and two together and decides this means he’s supposed to take Murina to the tournament. That’s definitely why the emperor granted him that ticket, right? However, even before the tournament, he faces his true self, witnesses some avant-garde bloodwork by Sitri, and meets a funny group of people who really like fox masks.
