Plot
For doing such a great job, Lois and Clark are given a cruise vacation aboard the "Grenodier", where they meet Nan Wilson, who has inherited Pogo Island, and she invites the two to visit her island. But the superstitious natives believe that Nan is a witch and several attempts are made on her life. Superman, however, discovers that the island is being used as a base for submarines belonging to a foreign nation which prey on merchant marine vessels in neutral waters.

💭"El grupo Grotak" incluido en este número 12 de Superman, es otra historia de estos tiempos bélicos en los comienzos de los años 40. Nuestro héroe persigue en estas viñetas a saboteadores de fábricas en los EEUU, para debilitar la capacidad defensiva del país. Como en otros números dibujados por Leo Nowak, las viñetas muestran cada vez de forma más clara la recién adquirida capacidad de volar del personaje. En el dibujo se aprecia cambios de dirección en mitad del vuelo y esto también se apoya en la narración. Es de recibo señalar que en los populares seriales radiofónicos emitidos desde 1940 Superman ya volaba, así como en la serie de animación de los Fleischer. Sólo faltaba oficializarlo en los cómics, pero de algún modo está transición se dio gradualmente en las viñetas.
