Plot
Superman continues walking across the country, visiting Des Moines, Iowa, and Kansas. Lois is in Kansas investigating charges that a chemical plant is poisoning the local ecosystem, when the plant explodes. Superman stops the fire and stabilizes the plant. He confirms the problem, but the workers convince him that the plant would have to be shut down because of the compliance cost, and they need the jobs. They even convince him to stop Lois from running the story. Lois can't believe it and leaves.
