Plot
Tragedy strikes the New Mutants! Meet Bird-Brain, a bizarre creature who’s about to become the team’s feathered friend. Para mí esta colección tiene dos grandes momentos. El primero y obvio con el tandem Claremont y Sienkiewicz y el segundo y un poco olvidado de Simonson y Blevins. Si no fuese por unos cuantos fill ins y un par de sagas que se desinflan un poco esta etapa sería redonda. Blevins es el primer dibujante que nos muestra a unos nuevos mutantes como adolescentes creíbles y además aprovecha su estilo cartoon para enfatizar momentos divertidos, pero también los dramáticos. Pocas veces hemos visto sufrir a Rhane o enojarse a Illyana o mostrar su inseguridad a Sam con tanta expresividad como con Blevins. Louise Simonson tiene episodios a veces sosos pero cuando guioniza los dibujos de Blevins está pletórica. Sus nuevos mutantes SON adolescentes que lo viven todo con intensidad, se equivocan, se dejan llevar por la pasión... Este tomo tiene uno de los mejores y más tristes momentos de la colección: la caída de los mutantes. Un raro ejemplo de crossover que eleva la calidad de la serie. Aplausos.
