La historia transcurre en el futuro alternativo del que procede Cable. Rachel Summers clona los cuerpos de Jean y Scott para albergar sus mentes traídas del pasado y puedan así criar a su hijo Nathan, después de que se vieran obligados a entregarselo para salvarlo del virus tecno-orgánico con el que fué infectado, y juntos intenten derrotar a Apocalipsis.
