¿Qué es un haiku mudo? Como su nombre indica, se trata de un haiku que no utiliza palabras porque se expresa mediante dibujos. La idea es generar en un espacio pequeño la misma poesía y belleza que se encuentra en los haikus. Para articular esta brevísima historia decidí utilizar tan solo tres viñetas que siguen un orden de tamaño y forma. La primera viñeta es cuadrada, la segunda rectangular y la tercera también cuadrada. Este formato de viñeta está basado en la métrica de los propios haiku, el cual se forma con tres versos de cinco, siete y cinco sílabas respectivamente. Los haikus mudos carecen de texto, pues las imágenes deben hablar por sí solas, aunque sí me he permitido el uso de onomatopeyas como recurso para una mayor inmersión en la obra.

What is a silent haiku? As its name suggests, it is a haiku that does not use words because it is expressed through drawings. The idea is to generate, within a small space, the same poetry and beauty found in haikus.

To articulate this very brief story, I decided to use only three panels that follow an order of size and shape. The first panel is square, the second rectangular, and the third also square.

This panel format is based on the metric structure of haiku itself, which consists of three lines of five, seven, and five syllables respectively.

Silent haikus lack text, as the images must speak for themselves, although I have allowed myself the use of onomatopoeia as a resource for greater immersion in the work.
