Plot
In 1961, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby lit the fuse of the greatest revolution in comic book history - the Marvel Age of Comics - and it started right here, in the pages of the Fantastic Four! With the space race on, Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, Sue Storm and Johnny Storm shoot for the stars...but after their craft is bombarded by cosmic rays, they return to Earth with the startling powers of the Fantastic Four! These weren't just any super heroes, though - the Fantastic Four were a realistic, relatable, bickering and loveable family that couldn't pay their rent and didn't always love their superpowers.

No es discutible el valor histórico de estos cómics e incluso se puede afirmar que son mejores que la mayoría de sus contemporáneos, pero empiezan a notarse los años. Sobre todo porque la lectura no es demasiado ágil que digamos, debido al abuso de textos de apoyo, principalmente. Tampoco Kirby está aquí aún en su mejor momento. A pesar de todo, leído en pequeñas dosis es entretenido y realmente es historia del universo Marvel con mayúsculas.

Arranca muy bien, secuencias muy dinámicas, con un Kirby muy suelto en la página. Después se empantana bastante, sobre todo cuando Lee empieza a meter sus clásicas parrafadas de texto, y las historias se vuelven repetitiva, con Namor, Dr Doom o Namor y Dr. Doom, para remontar hacia el final con el algunos highlights como el Master planner o el numerazo del Superskrull. Todo esto ya lo leí así que ya sé que en el próximo tomo Kirby empieza a manejar más la batuta y es donde realmente explota, pero igualmente es un lindo arranque. Una lástima que empiecen a agolparse tanto las páginas después de los primeros issues. Ya volverá a respirar el storytelling kirbiano.
