Plot

Pike, Dewshine, and Skywise sense the mind-touch of a great battle being fought psychically between Winnowill and Teir. Winnowill accessed Teir's soul and is manipulating his power to join with animal's minds. This is shortly before the trio finds a whole pack of deer who have reptilian skins over their faces and fangs.

Their minds have become retarded and paralyzed, and their reactions to Wimmowill's mind control is to become more vicious and monstrous. When the pack gathers a scent of the wolves and elves, Dewshine is forced to defend herself.

Note: This issue is the first of the series that drops the color and was published in black and white.
